On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Chernobyl accident, a series of 32 secret certificates of the KGB of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic was published, which dealt with the causes and consequences of the nuclear disaster, as well as efforts to conceal the informations that was linked to it.
With the recent opening of the archives of the Cheka-NKVD-KGB thanks to the Ukrainian law on access to archival information of repressive agencies of the communist totalitarian regime of 1917-1991 , new informations about the chernobyl incident get to the public attention.

Eight years before the accident, sources at the KGB among the participants in the construction of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant reported poor quality work and installation work that could lead to “the destruction of construction sites and radioactive contamination of the environment”
